You can also use vinegar as it’s a good kitchen chemical to produce homemade buttermilk.  Just pour 1 tablespoon white vinegar into a cup and add milk in it, leave it for 5 minutes and stir. Your buttermilk is ready.

Make buttermilk with yoghurt:

Plain yoghurt is also a recommended option to make buttermilk. Mix two tablespoons of milk with enough plain yoghurts. Whisk it well and you will get the quick substitution for buttermilk.

If you have sour cream then simply add plain water or milk to make it thin and mix it well until it reaches the consistency of buttermilk. It is also a good substitute for buttermilk.

Use cream of tartars to make the buttercream:

Do you know? Cream of tartar which usually sold with spices can be used to make the buttermilk substitute. Take the cup of milk and add 2 tablespoon cream of tartar into it. Whisk to combine and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes at room temperature. Stir the mixture and that’s it.
